Statement

My work is about escapism. Through various situations in my life, I have retreated into a fantasy world peopled only by a few select friends. Teaming this fantasy with my love of architecture, I am currently producing a body of work about Ambrosia, my island. In this world, there are few people, and many empty views of quirky, pleasing buildings. There are ruins, twisty alleyways, and often a kite flying in the distance. Escapism takes many forms, and there are references to books, and motorcycles, my two main forms of escape. Drawing has long been a therapeutic activity for me, and the absorbing, obsessive mark making is as important as the subject matter. I work in inks and ink washes on watercolour paper.
